Hail To The Victors

1 Corinthians 15:55

55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

On Saturday afternoon during college football season one would quite often as a Michigan resident hear the University of Michigan fight song entitled, “Hail to the Victors”.

When Our Lord Jesus Christ rose from the grave on the third day after His crucifixion. The Angels enjoyed singing a Victory song. Death and the grave weren’t even a challenge for Our Lord, He defeated both of them. As of now, He is highly exalted sitting on the right of the throne of God with all power in heaven and earth.

At Calvary Cross Jesus purchased our salvation from sin by His blood. He had to experience death and the grave in order to win the victory over them. Jesus’s victory is also the believer’s victory.

As we live the Christian life, we live from victory not for victory. Living out our faith in Jesus Christ and believing upon His name brings about victory. Yes, we have challenges and tribulation that will occur as we live in this world. We are not defeated but overcomers because our faith is in Jesus Christ. Life in this world is similar to a good football game.

However, it is good to know when the game is over and the clock clicks to 0:00, we as believers will sing, “Hail to the Victors”!
